Auto Glass Shop
The National Glass Association, founded in 1948, is the largest and most influential trade association related to commercial glass in the United States. The NGA serves those industries that use architectural glass, automotive glass, as well as, window and door glass manufacturers.
The NGA offers the most up to date training programs for technical skills, management practices, and to improve workmanship. Their training and education are second to none and are considered the commercial glass industries best educational source.
However, in the year 2011, the NGA sold their industry preferred auto glass technician certification programs to the Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standards Council. The NGA auto glass technician certification has been the industry standard for more than 20 years. The transfer to AGRSS, has been part of many discussions over many months where decisions were based on improving the industry overall.
What the acquisition of this program will do is, ensure the quality, professionalism and safety of auto glass technicians across the country, which means higher levels of safety for drivers, passengers and consumers.
The auto glass repair technician programs are especially complementary to the services that AGRSS provides, as they are the nation’s leader in auto glass safety standards. AGRSS plans on expanding and promoting the program in the next several years so the uniformity of skill and quality spreads across the country. The NGA will do its part in to promote the AGRSS Technician Certification to the industry.
What does all this mean for consumers? It means that when you see the AGRSS Registered Company seal at the auto glass repair shop you take your vehicle to, you’ll know your cracked windshield will be repaired in accordance with the highest level of industry standards. In fact, the AGRSS is the only overseer and standard setter in the industry. The AGRSS is a non-profit organization that was founded and is supported by many companies in the auto glass replacement industry that make safe windshield and auto glass installation, a primary goal.
The American National Standards Institute is THE standards development organization in the country. The ANSI is the organization that provides the guidelines for any industry to develop its standards. The ANSI has developed the North America’s only auto glass replacement standard and the AGRSS enforces that standard through addressing the procedures, education and product performance of the auto glass industry.
A properly installed windscreen may set you back hundreds of dollars depending on the type of insurance policy you have and the damage to the windshield, but it’s money well spent. A properly installed windshield could literally save your life. It is that important. It supports the frame of the car. If the glass is faulty or the windshield was improperly installed, there could be horrendous consequences.
Knowing this is vital to finding the best auto glass repair technician you can. For all the great work that the NGA and the AGRSS do, they cannot force companies to comply with their standards. The companies must volunteer to join, train their technicians and follow the safety standards upheld by these associations. This is why it’s so important to ask, do your research and, most importantly check for the AGRSS seal. This speaks volumes about the kind of business the auto glass shop runs.
